- Add your goalCreate a goal profile, or add a margin to your current pay. A $150,000 salary with a 67% margin is a $250,000 goal, or $2.00 a minute.
- Add anything else with a valueA freelance rate, a client, a side project, or the people on your team.
Every morning: open Outlook
Outlook shows the working time left today, this week, this month and this year, in minutes and in dollars. Before email, look at what's left and what it's worth, and decide which one task deserves the best of it. More about Outlook
Before you spend: price it in time
Every price is also a price in time. On a $150,000 salary a $1,200 laptop costs 16 hours 38 minutes of work. Time Price shows this for any amount and any profile, including your goal, so you can decide whether something is worth the hours.
Before you do it yourself: compare
If a task costs more in your time than it costs to pay someone, delegate it and spend the hours on work that moves your goal. When to do it yourself and when to pay someone
While you work: run the stopwatch
Start the money stopwatch for a focus block, a client call or a meeting. Watching dollars accrue keeps attention on what matters and makes interruptions feel as expensive as they are.
Every week: track your progress
Compare your profiles side by side to see how your value per minute is growing toward your goal, and check Outlook to see how much of the year is left to close the gap. Income and goal tracking
Questions and answers
How does Time Valuer work out what my time is worth?
It divides your pay by the hours you work. A $150,000 salary over 2,080 working hours a year (40 hours a week, 52 weeks) is $72.12 an hour, or $1.20 a minute. Time Valuer uses the schedule in your profile, so the number matches the hours you actually work.
What does Outlook show?
Outlook shows the working time left today, this week, this month and this year, in minutes and in dollars. Today is split into morning, afternoon and evening, the month is a ring of minutes left, and the year is a grid of days. Seeing what's left makes it easier to spend the rest of the day on what matters.
How do I decide whether to do something myself or pay someone?
Compare what the task costs in your time with what it costs to pay someone. At a $250,000 goal your time is worth about $120 an hour, so four hours of cleaning costs $481 of your time. If a cleaner charges $160, paying keeps $321 of goal time on track, as long as you spend those hours on work or rest that matters to you.
